We often think we have to change the entire world to make an impact, but the truth is, we change things one day at a time, right here at home.
I recently went on a patrol ride-along to see exactly what our local volunteers do.

It was an incredibly eye-opening and educational experience. You don’t just sit back—you learn the ins and outs of public safety, from understanding how citations work to managing vehicle abatement and conducting vacation house checks. It gives you a whole new perspective on how our city operates and what it takes to keep it beautiful and safe.
More than the work, it’s about the people. I had the privilege of riding with the fantastic AM shift crew. Smiling with my two wonderful AM shift patrol partners!) The camaraderie, the shared purpose, and the laughs we shared made it clear that this isn’t just volunteering—it’s a community.
We have the time, the wisdom, and the energy to protect the city we love. In fact, I just signed up and handed in my application! I am just waiting on my background check to clear so I can officially get out there. What are you waiting for? Come join me!
