The annual Chula Vista State of the City Address is always an important night for our community, but this year’s event at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center felt especially meaningful. Our team at RRM Project Love was honored to be invited to attend the evening, which brought together local leaders, business owners, and residents focused on celebrating where our city stands today and where we are heading next.
The Main Event: A Strong Vision for Chula Vista
The evening began with a high-energy presentation from Mayor John McCann, who kicked off the night with a dramatic, pre-recorded skydiving video stunt before taking the stage.The core of the address focused on the city’s impressive milestone: a record $617 million balanced budget. While many surrounding areas are facing financial tightening, Chula Vista stands on solid ground with healthy reserves, zero municipal layoffs, and dedicated funding to improve public infrastructure, streets, and neighborhood parks.The presentation also celebrated major local milestones, including:

After the Speeches: Great People, Great Conversations While the policy updates were exciting, the absolute best part of the night happened after the main presentation wrapped up. The event shifted into an informal reception, turning the venue into a giant gathering space where attendees could hang out, talk, and catch up. It was a fantastic environment filled with truly great people. Everyone took out their cameras to capture the night, exchange stories, and connect about their shared love for the community. The room was buzzing with positive energy as neighbors met neighbors and business owners chatted with city staff.
For our team, the reception was the perfect opportunity to connect directly with the people shaping our city. Bringing along our own camera, we had a great time catching up and snapping pictures with friends from the police department to thank them for their work keeping our neighborhoods safe. We even got to share a quick conversation and a photo with Mayor McCann. Events like this are a powerful reminder that Chula Vista’s strength doesn’t just come from its record budgets or shiny new development projects—it comes from the incredible people who live, work, and build community here together.
