Legacy of Love: RRM Project Love Radiates Hope at the Celebration of Champions

Legacy of Love: RRM Project Love Radiates Hope at the Celebration of Champions By RRM Project Love Media Team For 17 years, RRM Project Love has faithfully attended the Celebration of Champions, standing in awe of the resilience, courage, and beauty of the families present. But for the past two years, our involvement transformed from attending to actively anchoring a space of healing, joy, and community. This year, we returned with our booth, an unstoppable wave of positive energy, and a clear mission: to blanket these families in comfort and love.

This year’s event was especially milestone-driven for us, marking the very first Celebration of Champions experience for our Vice President, Joanne. Witnessing the event through fresh eyes, Joanne was profoundly moved by the raw, beautiful interactions between families and friends—both the new faces we met for the first time and the familiar ones we joyfully reunited with from last year.

Handmade Comfort, Crafted with Purpose At the heart of the RRM Project Love booth were our signature, handmade heart-shaped comfort pillows and custom therapy dolls. These items are crafted from scratch at senior workshops, creating a beautiful circle of giving. For the seniors, building these dolls and pillows provides a profound sense of purpose. For the recipients, the reward is immeasurable. Our heart-shaped comfort pillows represent a sacred token of remembrance. Handed out to families who have tragically lost a child, these pillows are designed to be held close to the heart as they walk the race to the finish line. For the children who are still with us, fighting their battles, the pillows and therapy dolls serve as a constant source of tangible comfort.

A Booth Like a Magnet: Joy, Clowns, and Creativity, If you followed the sound of laughter on that gorgeous, sun-drenched day, it would have led you straight to us.

Our booth acted like a total magnet for the kids! Building on the success of last year’s clown, we took a hands-on approach this year by painting our own faces, instantly matching the vibrant energy of the children. The booth was packed with endless activities that kept little hands busy and faces smiling: Spin the Whale: Children lined up at our tables, eagerly testing their luck on our custom game wheel. The Grass Coloring House: A massive, collaborative coloring house set up on the grass where kids could unleash their creativity. DIY Heart Pillows: Kids had the unique opportunity to stuff their own hand-sized, cotton heart pillows to take home.

A Night of Roses : We proudly featured our collaborative coloring books with Night Owl Danny. Though Danny couldn’t be there with us in person this year, his beautiful spirit was felt in every single page. Each page was uniquely made, and the kids absolutely loved them because they could relate so deeply to the drawings. Our RRM members had a wonderful time handing them out, and we are already holding onto the hope that Danny will be able to join us personally next year to pass them out himself! The Perfect Balance of Reflection and Celebration The true magic of the Celebration of Champions lies in its emotional landscape. The air was filled with a powerful mix of prayers, hugs, and deep reflection.

There were poignant, heart-stopping moments—watching parents tenderly hold picture frames of their children as they walked, and the breathtaking moment of silence where bubbles were blown into the air, beautifully representing the souls of the children watching over us. Yet, right alongside the tears was an abundance of laughter. It was a time for reminiscing, honoring those who fought the battle, and lifting up those who are still fiercely fighting. It was, in every sense of the word, a true celebration of life. You could genuinely feel the love radiating through the crowd from start to finish. RRM Project Love is incredibly grateful to have been a part of this magical day once again. To all the families, volunteers, and neighboring booths who participated: thank you for sharing your hearts with us. Until next year, we will keep sewing, keep giving, and keep loving.
